Persian Saffron

Saffron is the colour of patience.
Each thread is gathered by hand at dawn, when violet crocus flowers open briefly to the morning air. From these fleeting blooms comes a spice that has shaped Persian kitchens, ceremonies, and stories for thousands of years.

In Iran, saffron is not used loudly. A few strands are enough. Bloomed gently in warm water, it releases its golden hue — staining rice, sweets, and stews with warmth and fragrance. It appears in celebratory dishes, wedding tables, and quiet family meals alike, turning the ordinary into something revered.

Saffron perfumes the air in kitchens where rice is lifted like silk, where ice creams and teas glow softly, where desserts carry whispers of rose and honey. Its presence is subtle but unmistakable — floral, earthy, sun-warmed.

More than a spice, saffron is a symbol of abundance, care, and craft. It speaks of hands that harvest carefully, of time taken rather than rushed, of beauty created from the smallest details.

This collection draws from saffron’s quiet richness — its golden light, its delicate strength — captured in washes of colour that echo warmth, ritual, and reverence.

Our ceramic pans and paints: Each pan is carefully handcrafted using our signature, closely guarded binder recipe, formulated for smooth application, depth of pigment, and a velvety rich finish that can also be reactivated. Each ceramic pan is hand-made in our studio by us and fired by a local ceramic studio. Ceramic is used traditionally in watercolours to help avoid beading and allow the artist to see the blend on the ceramic palette. (Check our our ceramic palette range)

We only source the very best quality professional grade pigments that are a reputable artist grade, with the highest ASTM I- excellent rating. We don’t cut corners either unlike other makers. We use a ratio of 1:1 on our paints so you get stronger and longer lasting paints.

Please note: Most good binder recipes have clove oil included, but our binder recipe has a little more to ensure in years to come, that no mould will develop. This sometimes makes our paints smell a little stronger than others.

Pan size:

Each pan is approximately equivalent to half a standard pan to slightly over, as our ceramic pans are handmade. Please take this into consideration before purchasing—no two are ever exactly the same.

Imperfectly perfect:

Our paints and pans are entirely handmade. Small variations and imperfections are part of their nature and are embraced as a mark of true craftsmanship. They are a symbol of the care, time, and love poured into every piece we create.

A colour rooted in history, crafted by hand, and made to be lived with on paper.
